How Hand Wash Only Works
The hand symbol exists because machine agitation does two irreversible things: felts animal fibers (wool scales lock together — the sweater that fit at 9) and destroys loose weaves. The method: 30°C water, a capful of gentle detergent, soak 10 minutes, squeeze (never wring — twisting breaks fibers), roll in a towel to press water out, dry flat.
